From Bank to High End Boutiqute

18 Mar

While some urban redevelopment companies complain about the many “difficulties” and “problems” in rehabilitating these old monuments, the fashion industry has been the forerunners in recycling these buildings. The former grandeur of these classical buildings are especially welcomed by the top-notch designer brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Cartier and Tiffany.

As shown in this photo, Emporio Armani has successfully transformed this old bank building, formerly Savings Union Bank built in 1910, into their shopping palace. While on the outside, the domed building with the giant columns, the triangle and the flagpole make the Armani store instantly recognizable from the streets, the enormous domed banking hall inside is perfectly suited for the glamor and upscale atmosphere that Armani and its customers want. What can I say, fashion designers do have good taste.

Do you have any pictures of the inside? It is a perfect use for an old bank building.

Hi Sarah! Yes I do have a couple pictures, I just uploaded them to this blog, see above. Sorry they aren’t very good pics, did my best to take pictures secretly. I think the have a decent sushi bar right underneath the dome. Oh, they have a nice refurbished lower level for more retail space too.
